On Friday I had a lumbar microdiscectomy at L4-5, a one hour surgery. A day surgery, they called it, the entire ordeal was 4 hours. Now mostly pain free. Yesterday I walked 1200 steps.

More noteworthy, eight Washington Huskies ran a sub four mile in the same race. Watch

Compelling interview with D.C. cop on his near-death experience in the storm on the Capital. …Here

His book, Hold The Line, tells the whole story.  Highly recommended.  Being a cop is a tough life.  I had a good friend, a deputy with the Los Angeles Sheriffs.  Sadly, he drank himself to death.

Also read and recommend Lauren Fleshman’s Good For A Girl. …I knew two of her coaches, Dave DeLong and Mark Rowland,  her third coach, Vin Lananna, only slightly.
