Yes, I was at the Nike employee store, and, no, I did not buy the Vaporfly 4%. Not available. The sales guy said they got one shipment and “like, they were sold almost immediately.” No more shipments anticipated. Just as well, he sighed, as they’re “toast” after 150 miles.
Instead, he said, maybe almost as good and way-more durable, go with the Zoom Fly 3. I did. Retail $160.
For training he uses the Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo 2. And I will too. Retail $180.
With the 40% discount, and no sales tax, total cost was $204.

The only rowing I do is on a Concept 2 at the gym. There’s something very cool about being able to see your efficiency on each stroke, and to some extent adjust accordingly. You can race against yourself and the best in your age group. The classic distance is 2000m. My best is 9:53 against the 70-74 record of 7:08.

We’re weekending in Oakridge, about midpoint on the Oregon Timber Trail. It’s considered the mountain biker equivalent of the PCT. Interesting, eh?
We’re staying at the Oakridge Lodge. Very nice. 85% of their customers are mountain bikers.
